  • MDT is currently the largest transit agency in the state of Florida and becoming one of the largest transit properties in the United States. In Fiscal Year 2008, the agency carried close to 114 million passengers and ridership is constantly increasing as the MDT fleet continues to grow. The agency operates four transit modes: Metrobus, Metrorail, Metromover, and Paratransit.

With the limited and reduced resources, there is an increased demand for utilizing improved processes to provide reliable and efficient service to the public. Further, the implementation of Advanced Public Transportation Systems (APTS) technologies as well as the use of the data from these technologies is critical to improving operational efficiencies and overall system performance.

The objective of this project is to provide the Service Planning of Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) support in improving operational efficiencies and overall system performance by researching, analyzing, and assisting in the creation of reports, processes, and methodologies using data from MDT advanced public transportation systems technologies.
