About FIU ITE Student Chapter

The ITE Student Chapter at the Florida International University belongs to District 10, which covers the Florida and Puerto Rico region. Each district has two or more sections. The District 10 ITE has two sections: the Florida Section and the Puerto Rico Section. Each year, the Florida Section holds two meetings, one in the Spring and another in the Summer. The District 10 ITE meets annually in the Fall. Current student chapters in District 10 are:
  • Florida International University
  • University of Florida
  • University of South Florida
  • University of Central Florida
  • Florida State University/Florida A&M University
  • University of Miami
  • University of Puerto Rico

Each year, ITE sponsors two major competitions for its student members:
Both awards are first competed at the district level, with the winner from each district again competing at the international level. A final winner is then selected and is listed in the ITE Directory permanently. At the section level, the Florida Section ITE sponsors a scholarship named after Mr. Bill McGrath, a transportation professional from Florida who achieved national recognition for his life-long contribution to the profession. The scholarship is in the amount of $1,000 and is awarded annually to one ITE student member judged to be the best from a Florida school.
