  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety of elderly pedestrians at road segments and intersections in Miami-Dade County. To accomplish this, a two-fold approach is proposed:
    1. identify the most dangerous locations in Miami-Dade County, using crash, Annual average daily traffic (AADT), and related data from the Miami-Dade Public Works Department and
    2. provide countermeasures that can help improve the safety of elderly pedestrians.

Engineering countermeasures and non-engineering intervention methods (e.g., education, training, etc.) will be considered in this study.
