Dynamic Segmentation (DySeg) Tool

Dynamic Segmentation (DySeg) tool is a desktop database program that can automatically merge FDOT's crash records with roadway geometric data from FDOT's Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) to tally crashes and compute crash rates for Florida's roadway segments. Once the desired roadway features, segment lengths, and crash types are specified, DySeg will dynamically segment the roadways into uniform segments (i.e., none of the selected roadway features change within the segment) and then compute the crash number or crash rate associated with each roadway segment.

The computed crash rates can be used to identify high-crash segments. Also, the merged data (crash and roadway information) can be used to model the relationships between crash experience and various geometric and traffic design features.
