Florida International University

    Florida International University (FIU) is a public research university located in Miami, Florida and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as Doctoral/Research University?Extensive, the highest ranking in the prestigious classification system. A member of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), FIU is home to more than 38,000 students, including 60% Hispanics and 15% African-Americans. FIU is currently the largest producer of Hispanic engineers in the United States.

College of Engineering and Computing

    The College of Engineering and Computing is South Florida's Premiere engineering education resource. The College is home to seven academic departments and resides at the Engineering Center (EC), a 250,000-foot building on 36 acres situated less than two miles from the University Park Campus, and at the Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) building on the main campus. The two facilities house world-class research centers, teaching laboratories, faculty offices, study areas, computing facilities, and research laboratories.

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

    LCTR and the transportation engineering program are housed in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Department currently has 18 faculty members, including five in transportation engineering, making it the largest transportation faculty group in the State of Florida. At about 28% (or 5 out of 18), the Department also has one of the highest transportation engineering faculty ratio in the country.
